Enamel is an epoxy-phenolic lacquer pigmented with titanium dioxide.

Enamel is designed to cover the inner surface of the tin can, end parts of the tin cans and lids made of electrolytic or hot tinning sheets and chrome tin.

It is applied by roller method. After polymerization at a rate of 1 layer on a dry residue - 6-8 g/m2 at t = 210-215 °C for no more than 15 minutes, it forms a smooth even coating of light yellow color, resistant to chemical media.

 

Specifications of enamel EP-5283
  1. Appearance of enamel. Homogeneous white mass.
  2. Appearance of the film. After drying, the enamel forms a smooth, even surface of light yellow color.
  3. Conventional viscosity by viscometer VZ-246 (VZ-4) with nozzle diameter of 4 mm at temperature (20,0 ± 0,5) °С: 100-180 sec.
  4. Mass fraction of nonvolatile substances: 42-50%.
  5. The degree of grinding of enamel on the device "Klin" (grindometr) method A: no more than 10 microns.
  6. Drying time to degree 3 at a temperature of 210-215 °C: no more than 15 minutes.
  7. The strength of the film during stamping: without disturbing the continuous coating.
  8. Film resistance to sterilization at temperature (120 ± 2) °С, h, not less than:
        In distilled water - 1;
        In a solution of sodium chloride (3.0 ± 0.1)% - 1;
        In a solution of tartaric acid (2.0 ± 0.1)% - 1;
        In a solution of acetic acid (3.0 ± 0.1)% (for white tin) - 1;
        In the protein fluid - 1;
        In a solution of acetic acid (0.5 ± 0.05)% and sodium chloride (2.0 ± 0.1)% (for chromium, tin) - 1.
  9. Adhesion of the film before and after sterilization, scores, not more: 1.
  10. Mass fraction of chemical substances in a solution containing acetic acid (0.5 ± 0.05)% and sodium chloride (2.0 ± 0.1)% after sterilization of plates with enamel film and holding in a model medium for 24 hours at a temperature of (40 + 2) °С, mg/dm3, not more than:
        Formaldehyde - 0.1;
        Phenol - 0.05;
        Diphenylpropane - 0.01;
        Epichlorohydrin - 0.1;
        Epichlorohydrin (for children's nutrition) - 0.01;
        Lead salts are absent.
  11. There is no porosity.
  12. Resistance of the enamel film to the action of the model medium after sterilization and soaking in a thermostat at (40 ± 2) °C: 10 days.
